Schloss Burg (literally: „castle castle“ or „castle palace“) is a castle built in 1130 by the Counts of Berg. Situated in the so-called Bergisches Land, the chain of hills that runs in the north of Düsseldorf, Schloss Burg is a travel destination that combines historical sight with beautiful landscape, forested hills and information on the tradition of local craftsmanship.

The castle is a sight in itself, since it was carefully renovated and is fully accessible for visitors. Children and adults can explore, how the old knights and counts used to live here with their guests and servants. Visitors at Schloss Burg can also visit the castles museum, that focuses on local craftmanship, forging and hammering, local traditions and the life of the people in the Bergisches Land (museum is situated inside the castle, and thus also a fantastic travel venue for rainy days).

We offer this tour as an event-tour for larger groups. It can be booked by companies for example and, depending on time and budget, many extras can be arranged, like a medieval feast, musicians and many more. Düsseldorf Lebt can also arrange for a bus transfer from Düsseldorf or Cologne to the castle. Usually, one of our guides accompanies the group over the day, provides information on the castle and the surroundings, offers the opportunity for a hiking tour through the wonderful landscape and organises everything so you don’t have to. Please mind: Our guides are not allowed to guide through the castle! The trust financing the castle has their own, specialised staff to do that, but we can make all arrangements for you to be guided through castle and museum. Please call us, if you are interested and in need of further information. We shall then see to it, that all arrangements are made in the way most convenient for you.
